I first photographed The Bradshaw family back in 2018, it’s fair to say a lot has passed since then, so it was lovely to catch up with them on a bright day in early June 2021 at beautiful Longford Park for another family photoshoot.
As Manchester photographers, shooting family photography at Longford Park is always a pleasure. It’s one of our favourite locations as the light is perfect, the large trees offer a break from the strong sunshine and little pockets of light between those tall trees are the ideal place to take photos. Photography is all about finding the best and most natural light and playing with it to create beautiful images.
The Bradshaw family consists of Joe and Jess and their children Sophie and Harry. Needless to say, Joe and Jess looked the same but the children had grown. Children develop so quickly so taking the time to stop and create keepsakes is an investment you will never regret.
Creative and Natural family photography in Longford Park
Jess and Joe were organised and bought along some blowing bubbles, favourite picture books, a ball, scooters and some chalk to entertain Sophie and Harry. So, there was plenty of action with a kickabout and a scooter dash! The toys made the perfect props enabling me to get some gorgeous images of the family at play. I especially loved the images of the family sitting on the path doing chalk drawings. Here take a look!
The trees at Longford Park created a natural playground for Sophie and Harry to climb on, and if all else fails, you can always rely on dad to pick you up and swing you about. It’s always reassuring in an ever-changing world, to see children enjoy playing in just the same way their parents had done, so many years before.
Happy relaxed children make happy relaxed parents, so the play element allowed me to take natural and authentic images of the Bradshaw family walking, playing and chatting in the gardens. I stayed as unobtrusive as I could. There were no line ups, forced smiles or awkward poses. Just images of a family enjoying one another’s company in a beautiful setting.
The flowering trees in Longford Park also gave me the perfect backdrop for some really natural family portraits.

I also got a chance to grab some romantic portrait images of just Jess and Joe amongst the flowering trees. Sophie and Harry didn’t mind as they were entertained by a curious squirrel who seemed keen to join in the fun!
