A Sunny Wedding at Knowsley Hall

We always love returning to be Knowlsley Hall wedding photographers, and we always love capturing gorgeous wedding days like Jess and James’s.  Their late summer wedding in Merseyside was a joy from start to finish.

Knowlsley Hall is a stunning stately home built in 1495.  It has a handsome Georgian façade and charming Jacobean, Baroque and Victorian interiors.  And it sits in 2,500 acres of private estate.  When we return to capture wedding photography at Knowlsley Hall, we love entering the grand main gates and getting our fist glimpse of the house.  It always slightly takes our breath away.  Jess and James couldn’t have chosen a more impressive wedding venue.

On the day, we woke to beautiful weather and headed straight to Knowlsley Hall to catch up with the wedding parties.  We found Jess and her bridal party in one of Knowlsley Hall’s stunning suites, and she was in the capable hands of professional make-up artist and hair stylist Jodie A Smith and her bridal party which consisted of bridesmaids May Ling and Annalise and her mum Christine.

We also caught up with James and his grooms party who we found robed in the garden enjoying some cheeky bubbly.  They were on fine form and managed to tear themselves away to get ready.  The grooms party consisted of James, best man Callum, Groomsmen Nick and Tom, ushers Dean and James and James’s dad Chris.  The gents all looked very smart in petrol blue suits from Moss Bros that they teamed with pink ties.

Jess looked absolutely stunning in an exquisite backless dress in vintage lace that had a plunging neckline and skimmed Jess’s slender figure before gently fanning out to a fishtail shape that fell in a perfect circular train at her feet.  Jess looked so effortlessly beautiful and glamorous.  The dress looked like it was made with Jess in mind and gave her the most amazing silhouette in all of our images.  Jess bought the dress at Chloe Jane Bridalwear and teamed it with a sheer full-length veil.

Jess held a simple bouquet of white flowers with green foliage that was created by The Rose Boutique who did all of the floral arrangements at the wedding.  We captured a really special father seeing the bride moment.

Jess’s mum looked very elegant in pink as did the bridesmaids whose dresses were from Ted Baker.

Now, it’s always lovely to meet and work with other professionals in the wedding industry, and this was certainly the case working with Kevin Joseph who was there to capture the wedding film.

Storytelling wedding photography at Knowsley Hall

The wedding ceremony was held in Knowlsley Hall’s opulent Walnut Drawing Room.  This utterly stunning room is briming with period features and makes the most stunning backdrop for wedding photos.  The bridal party made a dramatic entrance down the feature staircase and entered to live musical accompaniment from the Bridgwater String Quartet.

After a lovely ceremony, everybody headed outside and we took some great images of the entire wedding party and guests on the imposing steps at the front of the house.  Before taking some amazing portrait images of Jess and James on the steps and then walking down the stunning tree lined drive, into a fun confetti moment.  Here, take a look!

Jess, James and their guests then enjoyed an elegant drinks and canapes reception in Knowlsley Hall’s beautiful gardens, and we took our chance to get some candid images of guests happily mingling and taking in their beautiful surroundings.  As well as some group images of the wedding party.  There was further musical accompaniment from the Bridgwater String Quartet and lawn games for the playful.

With guests happily catered for, we took our chance to whisk Jess and James away for a few minutes for a mini photoshoot around the beautiful grounds of Knowlsley Hall.  We got some fantastic images.

The wedding breakfast was held in Knowlsley Hall’s majestic Dining Room that is brimming with character and has period artwork adorning the walls.  The dining room had been dressed exquisitely for the occasion.  Tables were dressed in crisp white linen with beautiful floral arrangements and candles.

Guests were seated first so that Jess and James could receive a rapturous welcome.  There followed a sumptuous wedding breakfast prepared by Knowlsley Hall’s talented team of in-house chefs.  And then some very well received speeches.

By now it was the golden hour, which is the hour just before sunset when the sun is at its lowest creating a soft hazy light perfect for photography.   So, we took a few images of Jess and James in the hall before heading out into the grounds to capture some romantic sunset images.  And the ones we got were amazing.  Here, take a look!

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of the most stunning three-tiered wedding cake that had been made by Suzie from The Cake Pavillion.  This was followed by a romantic first dance for Jess and James.

When it came to evening entertainment Jess and James weren’t taking any chances.  They booked a photobooth through Hollywood Selfie Mirrors,  there were tasty evening snacks including a sweet bar decorated with fun polaroid photos of Jess and James at various stages of their lives.  And a sparkler serenade.

We love sparklers at weddings, they come out at the point in the day when you think all of the surprises are done, and make for amazing images.  Here. take a look!

The also had a DJ who they booked through the Big Event Group.  His job was made all the easier by the fact that Jess and James’s guests were really up for a party.  No coaxing was required and we got some really fun dancefloor images.

Before taking our leave, we quickly whisked Jess and James outside for a final image.  It was off the two of them embracing in front of Knowsley Hall, lit by the moonlight.  With all of their loved ones partying inside.  It was the perfect image to close the story of their perfect day.

A stylish, elegant yet fun wedding at a simply stunning wedding venue.  Congratulations to Jess and James for getting married and creating such an amazing wedding day.  We hope our images will enable you to relive it again and again for many years to come.
