Old Palace Wedding Photographer – Cath & Josh’s Day
As experienced Cheshire wedding photographers, we always love returning to capture wedding photography at Old Palace Chester. Cath and Josh chose the perfect venue for their autumn wedding in Chester.
Old Palace Chester is a stunning Georgian house built in 1751. This palatial house sits along the riverside in Chester with views across The Groves and River Dee and its beautiful gardens give wedding parties total privacy.
On the day we headed there early to catch up with Cath and her wedding party who were getting ready in one of Old Palace Chester’s beautiful suites. Wedding preparations were busy for the bridal party with six bridesmaids consisting of Cath and Josh’s daughters Jess and Izzie along with Zoe, Sammy, Hayley and Vikki.
We also got the chance to catch up with Josh and his grooms party who were getting ready in The Den, the perfect space for the groom’s party to meet and chill out before the ceremony. The boys looked very smart in three-piece-suits with white waist coats and jackets.
The grooms party consisted of Josh, best man Sam, groomsmen John, Zakk, Andy and Jaydan. Cath’s dad Alan and Josh’s dad Ian.

Cath looked stunning in an off-shoulder dress with beautiful lace detail with a mermaid kick out shape that gave her a gorgeous silhouette in all of our images. Cath bought the dress at Along Came Eve. Cath’s long hair had been beautiful styled by hairstylist from Truth Hair Salon and her make-up was immaculate thanks to make-artist Lucy Jane.
Cath’s bridesmaids looked elegant in olive green dresses that they complimented with elegant bouquets of white flowers with green foliage, created by Inspirations Florist.
The wedding ceremony was held in a stunning room with oak floors and feature period windows that flooded the space with natural light. The room had been dressed exquisitely by the clever team from Elegant Events who dressed the entire wedding. Cath was walked down the aisle by her dad Alan.
After a gorgeous ceremony, there was a fun confetti moment on the steps outside. Everybody then enjoyed a drinks reception and we took our chance to get some great images of the wedding party as well as some romantic portrait shots of Cath and Josh. We got some lovely images that we know Cath and Josh are thrilled with. Here, take a look!
Storytelling wedding photography at Old Palace Chester
The wedding reception was held in Old Palace Chester’s stunning ballroom that looked amazing all dressed and ready to go. Everybody was treated to a delicious meal prepared by Old Palace Chester’s talented team of in-house chefs. After the meal, there were some very well received speeches given by Cath’s dad Alan, by Josh, by Cath and Josh’s daughters Jess and Izzie and by best man Sam.
Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a gorgeous cake made by Mel’s Amazing Cakes followed by a romantic first dance for Cath and Josh that we captured perfectly.
Not that these guys were alone on the dancefloor for long. Their guests were really up for a party and DJ Matt Tolley was there to see they got one.
When the sun had set, we quickly whisked Cath and Josh outside for a romantic portrait image of them at one of the doors with everything lit up behind them. It was a gorgeous image and the perfect one to close the story of their day. Here, take a look!
