The two best things about being wedding photographers in Wales are working with lovely couples like Michelle and Ben, and getting to shoot Quay Spa Hotel Conwy wedding photography. Michelle and Ben chose the perfect venue for their Autumn wedding in Wales.
The Quay Hotel and Spa is situated in Conwy and recently underwent a million-pound transformation. One of Britain’s best-preserved medieval towns Conwy has ancient walls, narrow cobbled streets, nooks and crannies and chock full of historic buildings. The hotel enjoys fantastic views of Conwy Castle, a World Heritage Site due to its historic importance.
On the day we got there early so we could catch up with the wedding parties getting ready. Ben and his grooms party were in good form and we got some great images of Ben as he made his final preparations.
Michelle was getting ready in Quay Spa Hotel’s gorgeous bridal suite and had her maid of honour Ashley, bridesmaids Rachel and Hayley and flower girl Frankie with her. There were some great co-ordinated robes, some very cute flower girl PJ’s and a bit of bubbly to help things along. Michelle was also in the capable hands of make-up artist Kenna and Hair stylist Collette.

We loved Michelle’s dress, it had the most vintage lace and gold detailing, a gorgeous backless style and a classic shape that gave her the most exquisite silhouette in all of our images. Combined with her beautifully curled auburn hair and her bouquet of sunflowers she looked just stunning.
We headed downstairs to photograph guests as they started to arrive and mingle in The Quay Hotel’s Cove Bar.
The wedding ceremony took place indoors in the Quay Spa Hotel’s beautiful open plan suite that had been dressed beautifully by wedding dressers Sweet Brothers Events and Michelle walked down the aisle to musical accompaniment by cellist Elin.
After a beautiful ceremony guests enjoyed a drink in the bar, unfortunately it rained most of the day but we always come prepared with an umbrella so took Michelle and Ben outdoors to capture some lovely images of them set against the river Conwy, the fishing boats and Conwy castle. Michelle and Ben were a joy to work with and we got some amazing images. Here, take a look!
We then headed back to Quay Spa Hotel to get some lovely group images with the wedding party.
Storytelling wedding photography in North Wales
Guests were then seated for the wedding breakfast and greeted Michelle and Ben’s entrance rapturously. Now we love the little quirks and details at weddings as they tell us something of our couples personalities. At Michelle and Ben’s wedding we loved the wooden animal table numbers, and the cake topper. They were really fun and personal.
After a sumptuous wedding breakfast prepared by the in-house catering team at Quay Spa Hotel, there were some very well received speeches by Ben, Ben’s mum Jo and groomsman Sean.
As the sun started to set, we took the chance to capture some romantic sunset images of Michelle and Ben on Quay Spa Hotel’s balcony. They were amongst our favourites of the day. Here, take a look!
Evening celebrations started with the cutting of the most gorgeous three-tiered naked wedding cake that had been made by bridesmaid Rachel. It looked delicious. Before Michelle and Ben took the dancefloor for a romantic first dance.
Michelle and Ben’s guests were definitely up for a party and with a sweets table, a fun photobooth (who doesn’t love a photobooth) and DJ Ged Ryan ready to go, nobody was disappointed.

The end of the night was marked with a sparkler serenade. We love sparklers at weddings as they make for magical wedding photos. Here take a look!
The music kept on coming and we braved the dancefloor to get some great images of everybody dancing. The perfect images to close the story of Michelle and Ben’s fun-filled and stylish wedding day.
