A Rivington Barn Wedding
As busy Lancashire wedding photographers we always love returning to shoot Rivington Hall Barn wedding photography. This Grade II listed building is ideal for weddings. The barn has impressive original Saxon beams and lots of original features. Surrounded by fields and woodlands that give us endless opportunities for pretty backgrounds when photographing our brides and grooms. Natalie and Stephen chose the perfect venue for their late summer wedding. But we’ll get back to all the reasons why we love shooting Rivington Hall Barn weddings in a minute. Let’s start at the beginning of Natalie and Stephen’s day.
On the day we woke up to sunshine which luckily stayed with us all day. We got ourselves over to Natalie who was getting ready in the nearby Kilhey Court Hotel along with her bridesmaids Danielle, Jess, Alisha and Maddison.
Natalie’s dad Lee arrived and once the bridal party were ready, he and Natalie travelled to Rivington Hall Barn in style in a fantastic white 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood ‘sixty special’ that they’d hired from American wedding cars.
Natalie looked stunning in her simple lace detail dress that she bought from Bliss Bridal Boutique, it gave her an amazing silhouette in all of our images of her. With hair by Chloe from Evissa Hairdressers and make up by Dee Hargraves Natalie looked every inch the gorgeous bride and was so relaxed and happy all day that photographing her was a pleasure (happy laid-back brides are a Lancashire wedding photographers dream!)
A Touch of Scottish to Rivington Barn
Now I must mention Stephen and his grooms party who all looked resplendent in full Scottish attire. The attention to detail was impressive right down to their underwear which was helpful in case any of them forgot their roles on the day! The grooms party was made up of Stephen, his dad David, best man Paul and groomsmen Simon and Matthew.
The ceremony was held in the beautiful barn and had been dressed by florists and venue dressers Qube Events with pretty lights, candles and hanging floral arrangements. It was a truly magical setting. As soon as the ceremony had taken place Natalie and Stephen danced back down the aisle and there was a lovely confetti moment. Here, take a look!
A drinks and canapes reception was held on the terrace overlooking Rivington Hall’s lawns and with great views across the gardens, fields and woodlands beyond. It was a great opportunity for us to get some fantastic images of Natalie, Stephen and their guests soaking up the sunshine and enjoying their pretty surroundings whilst they relaxed and mingled.
A Versatile Wedding Barn
With everybody catered for we also took our chance to quickly whisk Natalie and Stephen away to get some romantic portrait images of them around the lovely grounds of Rivington Hall Barn. There was also time for some group shots and a fun image of everybody on the lawn taken from an upstairs window!
The wedding breakfast was held back in the barn which was dressed beautifully. One of the many things we like about Rivington Barn weddings is that the barn is a really versatile space and the team at Rivington Barn allow their couples to have any layout or style they like so it’s always lovely for us to see what couples have done with it.
Food on the day was provided by Rivington Barn’s in-house catering team from a menu that had been created by Natalie, Stephen and Rivington Barn’s talented chefs. Now we must mention the cake. We’ve seen some wedding cakes in our time but Natalie and Stephen’s cake was something to behold. Made by those clever people at Blackrod Cake Company it featured Marvel and Disney characters with an array of co-ordinating cupcakes adorned with lego batmen. They warranted an image of their own!
Stephen’s sister in Australia wasn’t able to make it to the wedding so sent a video message which was a lovely addition to the day.

The Evening Reception at Rivington Barn
The evening reception was magical. Rivington Barn is renowned for its party nights so has everything you need for the perfect celebration. The extensive bar and state of the art sound system made sure that Natalie, Stephen and their guests had everything they needed for an epic wedding party. DJ Adam Carr oversaw a romantic first dance for Natalie and Stephen before the party really started. And this lot looked like they were up for a party!
A gorgeous and fun wedding full of love and laughter. Congratulations to Natalie and Stephen for getting married and creating such an amazing day for yourselves and your family and friends to remember. We hope our images will enable you relive it again and again for many years to come.
