As award winning Warrington wedding photographers, we always love returning to capture wedding photography at Stantham Lodge Hotel. Chelsey and Karl chose the perfect venue for their Spring wedding in Cheshire.
Stantham Lodge Hotel is a stunning Georgian manor house hotel set in 11 acres of beautifully maintained private grounds. Internally its high ceiling, Georgian windows and flexible room layouts in its 6 elegant reception rooms make it a fantastic location for weddings.
Chelsey and Karl chose to have their ceremony and reception there and who wouldn’t. Once in, you really don’t want to leave!
On the day we got there early so we could catch up with the bride and grooms partys whilst they got ready. Chelsey and her bridal party were getting ready in one of Stantham Lodge’s gorgeous suites and they were all in great spirits, enjoying a light sandwich lunch and a little bubbly. We got some lovely images that really conveyed the joy and excitement of the occasion. Chelsey was calmly in the capable hands of her friend and make-up artist Jerry Ann and hair stylist Sam Gately. The bridal party consisted of Maids of Honour Jen & Ella, bridesmaids Becky, Emily, Rina and Chelsey’s mum Mandy.

We also caught up with the Karl and his grooms party who were getting ready in of the other suites. These guys were wearing full Scottish attire (who doesn’t love kilts at weddings!). And there was time for some present opening (Chelsey bought Karl a gorgeous watch) as well as enough time for a quick cheeky dram. The grooms party consisted of Karl, Best Man Harry, Groomsmen Nick, Ryan and Daryl, Karl’s Dad Martyn and Chelsey’s dad Brian. And we must mention the youngest members of the groom’s party who looked adorable in their kilts.
Before the ceremony began, we also got the chance to get some amazing images of the venue all dressed and ready to go. It looked exquisite and was the clever work of the team at Belle Celebrations and florist Jemma Holmes.
Chelsey looked stunning in a striking ballgown skirted dress with off the shoulder style. The soft layering gave it a really floaty fairy-tale look, that really suited the style of the wedding and the splendour of the venue. The older bridesmaids wore elegant floor length dark green dresses and the younger ones looked very sweet in white. Before heading downstairs, we captured a really special father seeing the bride moment.
The wedding ceremony took place in Statham Lodge’s beautiful Shelley Suite. This elegant room has period features, a chandeliered ceiling and large Georgian windows that throw in tons of natural light. Us Warrington wedding photographers love all additional light as we can play with it to create even more beautiful images.
Storytelling wedding photography at Stantham Lodge
After a lovely ceremony everybody enjoyed a fun confetti moment as guests greeted Chelsey and Karl outside. Here, take a look!
We also took our chance to capture some great group images, but as there was a little rain (the only rain on the day) the drinks reception took place inside in Statham Lodge’s elegant bar.
As the shower passed, we took our chance to quickly whisk Chelsey and Karl away for a mini photoshoot around the grounds of Statham Lodge. We got some really romantic portrait images including some in the grounds woodlands that were amongst our favourites of the day. Here, take a look!
Now we love the little touches and quirks at weddings as they tell us something of our couples’ personalities. At Chelsey and Karl’s wedding it was the love locks. These are custom made padlocks that affixed to a gate or a fence to symbolise the couples everlasting love. They had been personalised to make a great keepsake for guests.
The wedding reception was held back in the Shelley Suite that had been dressed beautifully with tables with white linen, pretty wedding favours and flowers. Chelsey and Karl were welcomed in enthusiastically by their guests and speeches were done straight away (always a good idea!) The speeches were very well received and were given by Chelsey’s dad Brian, by Karl, by maid of honour Jen and by best man Harry.
Creative and natural Statham Lodge wedding photography
After a very sumptuous wedding breakfast, and as guests happily milled around the hotel, spilled out onto the lawn or sat chatting in the bar. We quickly whisked Chelsey and Karl away for a few minutes to capture some romantic portrait images of them as the sun started to set. The low dappled sunlight through the trees created a really soft light for some romantic images. Here, take a look!
When we re-joined the party, the weather had picked up so we took the chance to capture some more great group images of the wedding party. Everybody was in such good spirits that we had some fun with it and captured some great candid moments as well.
Evening celebrations started with the cutting of the most amazing three-tiered wedding cake that had been made by Statham Lodge’s in-house catering team. This was followed by a romantic first dance for Chelsey and Karl.
These guys weren’t alone on the dancefloor for long. As their guests were really up for a party and it was a joy to see (at least) three generations on the dancefloor together. For the dancing, Chelsey got changed into her customised white Dr. Martin boots with ‘Mrs Montgomery’ written on the side. They made the perfect image to close the story of Chelsey and Karl’s day.
A wonderfully fun, family friendly wedding for this lovely couple. Congratulations to Chelsey and Karl for getting married and creating such an amazing wedding day. Thank you for allowing us to tell the story of it. We loved it!
