Stirk House Wedding Photographer – Gemma & Mitch
The best things about being Lancashire wedding photographers, are meeting lovely couples like Gemma and Mitch and getting to capture film and wedding photography at Stirk House.
Stirk House is set in a 17th century manor house full of history and character with beautiful gardens, an ancient woodland and countryside views as far as the eye can see. An award-winning wedding venue that has a real fairytale vibe. Gemma and Mitch couldn’t have found a more enchanting location for their summer wedding in Lancashire.
On the day we got there early so we could capture those all-important morning of the wedding images. Gemma and her bridal party were all getting ready at Stirk House in their spacious and light honeymoon suite. The bridal party consisted of Gemma, her mum Helen, maid of honour Carly and bridesmaids Lucy, Bethany and Gemma.
Gemma looked stunning in a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline with a fitted bodice that kicked out at the bottom giving Gemma an amazing silhouette in all of our images. Gemma bought the dress at The White Gallery. Her hair had been beautifully styled by Sarah Cadley and her make up was immaculate courtesy of make-up artist Amy Lauren.

We also caught up with Mitch and his grooms party who also getting ready at Stirk House. The grooms party consisted of Mitch, best man James, groomsmen Ben, Chris, the two James’s and Mitch’s dad Paul.
There was also another very important member of the wedding party and that was Gemma and Mitch’s dog who was thrilled to be there, and was looked after by a dog chaperone from Pawfect Occassions so he could take a rest in between performing his wedding duties!
The wedding ceremony took place in Stirk House’s enchanting gallery. With stone walls, wooden beams and a tranquil ambience its perfect for a wedding ceremony and had been beautifully decorated by local florists The Flower Girls, who did all of the flowers on the day and by the talented wedding team at Stirk House. Gemma was walked down the aisle by her dad Stephen.
After a lovely ceremony there was a fun confetti moment as Gemma and Mitch walked back down the aisle. Everybody then enjoyed a drinks reception and we took the chance to get some fun images of the wedding party. Whilst guests enjoyed refreshments, they were entertained by talented singer Alex H who sang a second set whilst guests were eating.
Storytelling wedding photography at Stirk House
The wedding reception was held in Stirk House’s magnificent ballroom. Tables were dressed elegantly with crisp white linen, white flowers with green foliage and candelabras. Guests were seated first so that Gemma and Mitch could receive a rapturous welcome.
After a delicious wedding breakfast there were some very well received speeches given by
Gemma’s dad Stephen, by Mitch and by best man James. After which guests chilled out, and explored Stirk House making full use of the exclusive use.
We love this time of day at weddings, when all of the formalities are out of the way and everybody is so relaxed. It’s a great time to get candid and natural images that really suit our documentary storytelling style of wedding photography.
Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a gorgeous naked three-tiered wedding cake made by award-winning cake makers A Cake Occassion.
Creative and natural Stirk House wedding photography
This was followed by a romantic first dance for Gemma and Mitch to Ronan Keatings ‘Life is a rollercoaster’. Not that these two were on the dancefloor alone for long. Their guests were really up for a party and it wasn’t long before the dancefloor was full. And wedding band The Party Fettlers were there with a mix of rock, pop and soul classics to make sure it stayed full all night. We took our chance to get some really fun dancefloor images.
A wonderful fun-filled wedding full of love and laughter. Congratulations to Gemma and Mitch for getting married and creating such an amazing day for yourselves. We hope our images will allow you relive it again and again for many years to come.
